Rev. Albert P. Rowe immediately began to get to know his members and get involved with civic and community affairs. Under his leadership, Calvary Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1969. The church purchased an old factory building located on Godwin Avenue near East 18th Street and converted it into a Community Center hosing pre-school classes, meeting rooms, game rooms, offices and a regulation size gymnasium. In 1979, Calvary Community Health Center opened. After serving as the pastor for 43 years years, Rev. Albert P. Rowe retired. Upon his retirement, Rev. Dr. Randall M. Lassiter became the spiritual leader and pastor of Calvary Baptist Church. In the last ten years, the church’s membership has grown. Dr. Lassiter saw the church through the COVID 19 pandemic and continues to plan for the future.
Join us in celebrating Calvary Baptist Church’s history in the City of Paterson on June 26, 2022.
